Definition of right of way

Right of way

The portion of highway in which no construction work excluding the road work is allowed..

1. It is helpful for the future planning of the road.
2. It is used for the plantation of trees.
3. Utility lines such as telephone lines, optical fibers and other services are to be provided in the right of way.

Recommended width

The recommended width of R.O.W by National highway authority Pakistan is :

1. 150 feet for 2 lanes.
2. 250 feet for 4 lanes.
3. 300 feet for 6-8 lanes.

Any kind of construction within the right of way is strictly prohibited.
