Definition of Evapotranspiration or Water Loss or Consumptive use

Evapotranspiration :

Evaporation from water bodies and soil masses together with the transpiration from plants is termed as evapotranspiration.

In short, we can say that the total water loss by the transpiration and vegetation constitutes evapotranspiration. It is also known as water loss, total loss or total evaporation.

The term consumptive use is also used to denote this loss by evapotranspiration.
