Major steps in Finite element Analysis

The finite element analysis requires the following major steps:

  1. Discretization of the domain into finite number of sub domains.
  2. Selection of interpolation functions.
  3. Development of element matrix for the sub domain element.
  4. Assembly of the element matrices for each sub domain to obtain the global matrix for the entire domain.
  5. Imposition of the Boundary conditions.
  6. Solution of equations.
  7. Additional computations if desired.
