- Self load
The type of dead load which is due to self weight of the member to be designed is known as self load.
For design purposes, a reasonable value of self load is considered in the start. It is assumed by considering the past experience. At the end of design the actual self weight is calculated. It is then compared with the assumed self weight. Corrections in design are made if necessary.
