Buoyancy or Force of Buoyancy:
Buoyancy or Force of Buoyancy is the difference of weight of body in air and weight of body in any liquid.
It is Expressed as FB.
FB=Wa-WL
Where
Wa is the weight of body in air.
WL is the weight of body in any liquid.
Conditions of Stability for floating bodies
There are three conditions of stability for floating bodies.
If W>FB
Then the body will sink.
If W<FB
Then the body will float.
And If W=FB
Then the body will partially sink and partially float. The last condition will happen when the density of body and that of liquid are equal or same.
- Note:W is the weight of the body and FB is the force of buoyancy.
